I like to look at the grocery store ads before I decide my menu plan for the week. I try to cook meals based on what's on sale. If they're having a great deal on chicken, we're eating chicken.
I do most of my grocery shopping at Target. They have store coupons for their grocery section (both online and the ones that come with your receipt), and then I add a manufacturer's coupon as well and often save more than 50% on the item. And if you can get the item on sale as well, sometimes it's close to being free. I bought two packs of Mentos gum last week for $.13 a pack, all because of coupons.
where do you find the manufacturer's coupons? I am always looking for those but never find them?
I try to remember to pay myself when I pay my tithing - if I think of it as another bill its a little easier to do. I just make a payment into my savings accout. It has been working fairly well.
There's a couple places to get them. The easiest is the Sunday newspaper. They're in there every weekend, unless its a holiday weekend. (Why the holiday makes it so there aren't any is beyond me though...)
You can also print them off the internet. Coupons.com has some, and you can go directly to the websites of the brands you like the most. They often have coupons there. I print off coupons regularly from pillsbury.com and bettycrocker.com, but there are lots of others out there.
You shouldn't ever have to buy cereal without a coupon unless you're buying very specific kinds. I NEVER pay more than $2 a box for cereal.
